From Sweden you travel in the same time zone down to the end of the African continent. Cape Town is a tourist destination where you will meet people from all over the world that are here both short and long term. Because of the amount of travelers Cape Town offers many hotels, hostels and Airbnb rentals. To find a place to stay is therefore not so difficult but the prices vary depending if it’s summer (high season) or winter. One thing I love about Cape Town is that you find so much to do only a short distance from the city centre and it is easy to get around by either bus or taxi.
Cape Town is known for its cultural diversity, with people from all over the world calling it home. The biggest are the Afrikaans, Xhosa and Cape Malay cultures. Besides the Xhosa, Cape Town is also home to people from various African backgrounds. This makes the culinary cuisine in Cape Town, according to me, among the best in the world. There are endless of great restaurants, cool bars and fun nightclubs. When you are here don’t miss out to try some local food like a Bunny chow, Bobotie and of course a proper Braai!
You realize quickly that the lifestyle here is very chilled and people are open and friendly.
Cape Town really offers a huge variety of attractions and things to do and that is what I love most about this town. If you are a sporty person there are many amazing hikes to walk and beautiful stretches to cycle. Cape town is also a mecca for kite surfers and surfers. With its location Cape Town also offers stunning beaches and rockpools. I have travelled the world and I can truly say that the beaches here are among the best I have ever seen. The marine life here is something special too and you can see whales, dolphins, pinguins, seals, sharks and much more. A kayaking trip is highly recommended by me!
Just outside Cape Town you have the stunning winelands. Come here to enjoy markets, vine tastings, gardens, stunning views, good food and much more. All wine estates offer something unique and we all have our favorites.
My time as an intern at Propel Africa was one of the best things I ever did. I was welcomed with open arms and felt like I was part of the team from the start. They gave me the tools and experience I needed to continue my journey in this trade. If you are studying, have read this and are thinking about doing your internship abroad I truly recommend you to join Propel Africa.
